It always annoys me to see them.

They make me cringe. You know the type.. walking out of Hot Topics with their mommies (who they later insist that they hate) with their hair bright green. But not with hair dye- oh no, wouldn’t want to actually commit to something. Instead, they use spray on hair color, or that colored styling gel. The gel happens to be holding up their creepy little fohawk -couldn’t have a real one, mommy wouldn’t let them.

But of course, the looks are just one thing, although their look can kill -others die of embarrassment for them, whether they know them or not. Then they die of embarrassment if it turns out they actually know this loser.

On top of that, they have the most ridiculous mindset.

“My mom doesn’t control me! Anarchy!”

… and then they go home because it’s their bedtime.

And even worse are the ones who “hate their parents”, even though their parents love them unconditionally and put a roof over their head, and put food in their mouths. They run away from home, they hate their parents with all their hearts, when their parents just want the best for them. That’s whats even more sad, is when a person has everything but they deny it, they call it shit when they have fucking everything.

Not only is in contradictory, it’s stupid enough to begin with. I’m sure anyone with a brain inside their head can figure out why for themselves. (It would create chaos but there’s always someone in charge, soon that person will rule and it will be a dictatorship and worse off than the beginning, blah blah blah)

One of the silliest things I’ve ever heard was this poser said that wasn’t what anarchy is, and that its about “having fun”. Oh please. Having fun is called having fun, not “anarchy”. Anarchy is never used in a positive way, you never say “oh that sale was wonderful, it was anarchy!”.. unless you are a huge poser who thinks that anarchy is cool.

Just ask anyone who’s ever lived in a country where it literally is anarchy. It’s not fun. It’s not safe.

One time I was in the middle of a riot. It was the stupidest thing in the world. Everyone was just way pissed off that the cops teargassed the show.. but they weren’t doing anything productive. They were just destroying everything. They were just making a worse name for themselves, they were just making themselves look stupid.

It was the opposite of productive. It was just retarded. How was that supposed to solve anything? It didn’t, and now shows aren’t even allowed in that venue because of what a bunch of drunken idiots did.

That was a bit of “anarchy”. And guess what? No one had fun. They just poured salt in the wounds. They just egged the cops on to shoot. They were just asking to be beaten, they were asking for it. They can insist for their lives that they weren’t, but the ones destroying the godamn jack in the box were asking for it. And what’s worse, innocent people ended up getting hurt. People who were just trying to go home, people who were just trying to leave.

So I can say, from my taste of chaos, that it’s not “having fun”. And anyone who thinks that that is fun needs to grow up and face that the prejudice and hardships they are getting from cops, from jobs, from everyone is their own doing. People are scared, because people SHOULD be scared of people who think destroying things that don’t belong to them and did nothing wrong to them is “having fun”.

… But that’s going a bit deeper. That’s going into the hypocrisy of it all.

And that’s what I can’t stand. And maybe THEY are the posers- because they are taking something that was simply an “anti” and turning it into an “anarchy”. It all started from the biggest posers of them all, who took the ideas and words of other people and misinterpreted them, ruined them, ruined everything.

Punk is fucking dead. It’s been dead ever since the ‘77 scene was over. After that, it went to absolute shit. It went to the idea of “anarchy” and bred thousands of idiots who think that their ignorance makes sense.

It doesn’t. It’s bullshit. Pure bullshit.

Of course, there are the exceptions. There are the bands that rock, there are the kids that do too. There are the ones that see through the “up the punx” bullshit and do their own thing.

You’ll note that these kids aren’t the ones wearing red plaid bondage pants paired with a bondage belt and a ripped up “punks not dead” shirt.

You’ll note that you wouldn’t ever realize the true kids, the ones that aren’t shit, are the ones. You couldn’t pick them out of a crowd, because they are smarter. Because they don’t bother to look like the brainwashed, the Sid obsessed.

You’ll note that all Sid was was a junkie. A junkie who couldn’t play his instrument.

At least some of the other junkies of the time could still kick ass. And they were the few, the true.

Not the bullshit that I see, and not the damn posers littering the world.

We all know what they are- those little quizzes you find on myspace or whatever that has you fill out questions and then they tell you what disorder you have. It is so bogus, and even if you think of it as just a little game, there are tons of reasons why it’s just slowly making you believe you are a sociopath.

After taking it, you see that you scored “Very High” in the sociopath section. You know you aren’t a sociopath, but you think “Oh, i guess I have sociopathicl tendencies. Weird.” After awhile, you start to start excusing your behavior on the “fact” that “you have sociopathic tendencies. Then, when you are sad or angry or just not in your best mood, you start to blame it on “being a sociopath”.

What I’m getting at, is that it will make you eventually think you are in fact a sociopath, even though you are basing it off of a bogus “diagnosis” and probably don’t even understand the characteristics and symptoms of sociopathy.

I learned today that there is actually a medical term for being a hypochondriac due to the internet… Cyberchondria. The biggest problem in my mind about cyberchondria is that not only does that person think they have a disease that they most likely don’t, its that they start to adjust or exaggerate symptoms that belong to the disease they think they have. This goes for not only mental illnesses, but medical ones as well. The huge problem with that is that if you truly believe you are suffering from something, you will trick yourself into having the symptoms whether they really exist or not. You start to actually feel these symptoms. And you end up wasting money and doctor visits thinking you have Lyme disease but really you just have the flu.

So there was a tornado in Huntington Beach, a tornado in Costa Mesa, a tornado in Seal Beach… and those are just the ones i know of

It feels like The Day After Tommorow.. seriously.

So, people believe that the world will end in 2012… but why does that lead to the only means of the world ending being a natural disaster on the specific day? It would be insanely eerie if it turns out that the world WILL end in 2012, but the “world ending” mean the last survivor dying.

I mean, there was the first earthquake in Haiti, simultaneously there was one in Hawaii and one in San Bernandino. Then Haiti gets another earthquake, while at the same time Southern California gets a storm unlike any we’ve seen for years, paired with tornadoes..!

So i guess if there are even more disasters… I wonder what’s next. I know it sounds completely morbid, but at the same time kind of… exciting.

However, this is being said by the girl who freaks out about being incredibly sick and then wimps out on the blood test.. So if the world really IS coming to an end, you’ll see me screaming through the streets trying to find my boyfriend so I wont be alone.

First off let me stress- I ADORE Chuck Palahniuk. He is one of my favorite authors, and I LOVE how the movie Fight Club turned out despite the way it ended and a few bits of the book’s plot that it left out. I still think how Fight Club turned out was wonderful.

AND- I love the book Choke. So when I saw a commercial for the movie way back when it was being put out into theaters, I was pretty psyched. Then I saw the movie posters…

Seen here

At that point, I was thinking “Well I guess they’re exaggerating the sex in the plot, but I guess sex sells so as long as the movie is OK then whatever..”

Because, after all, the fact that he is a sex addict doesn’t really have much to do with the overall meaning of the story. It’s just character development after all, he could easily have been an alcoholic, a pill popper, or well, anything else to show that he is “dirty” or “impure” in some way. What I’m getting at is that while Victor may be a sex addict, the story isn’t about sex.

When I saw the movie I was disappointed at how much they focused on sex.. It was just too much, it was unnecessary. But honestly, that would have been fine with me, if they had kept the plot in all other aspects.

But dear god did they fail at that; Probably the worst was how they butchered the character Paige. I loved how at the end of the book, it turns out she was just batshit insane. But the movie they made her out to “just have a few emotional problems” and for some strange reason made the two fall in love? WTF was that about? It ruined the entire story.

And one more thing that bugged me was how in the book after Victor appeared on TV, everyone who saved him came to see him… and then realized that he cheated them all and stoned him with Denny’s rocks. That was a really epic moment, why on EARTH would the movie add like 30 extra sex scenes but take away that one?

It’s like they were trying to muffle the whole “Victor is Jesus” thing, when really that was one of the MAJOR themes in the book, if not the most important..! Why why why would they try to get rid of the main element that made the book so good? Sure, they showed Paige telling him about it, but other than that they basically ignored it! And even still, the stoning scene was what made him and Jesus so similar in a way, and what made Paige’s lie almost seem.. real.

So basically the plot of the movie infuriated me, and for anyone who has read the book I’m sure… And probably everyone who had seen the movie but not the book WON’T go out and read the book if they think the book’s plot is as weak and lame as the film adapted plot, which is a big loss for Palahniuk.

Another thing that bugged me was how the director was trying to cash in on it, thinking that just because Fight Club was another work of Palahniuk’s that they could just take the format of Fight Club and just plug in some of the plot from Choke.

Even in the first five minutes you can tell that they were trying to make it like Fight Club with the way they did the narration and how they introduced the story.

But the thing is, Choke is NOT Fight Club. And it’s sad, because if they had treated Choke like a work of it’s own and not some weird tribute to Fight Club, it may have become a cult classic at the very least.

But I DO like who they cast for Victor and Denny, as well as Victor’s mom. I do like the way they portrayed his tour guide job, and the way they portrayed his coworkers. The actor that played Victor portrayed the character well, and I was really pleased with his performance. It was the script I didn’t like, but when it came to acting I really did like *most* of the actors.

However, I HATE how they portrayed Paige. I’m not familiar with the actress but she seemed like she was trying to be Drew Barrymore in Donnie Darko, but failed miserably because she failed to portray the sarcasm needed for portraying that kind of character. Basically, she came across as a boring hunk of nothingness. Nothing special enough to stand out, if anything she should have been one of the random sluts that he has sex with, not the girl who he ends up liking.

Overall, I think this movie had a whole lot of potential, but they royally screwed it up. Too bad too, because this is one of the handful of Palahniuk books that couldve been *easily* adapted to the big screen… they just spend far too much time messing with the script when the way it was written could have been easily adapted without having to take out major bits of the plot.
